From the Kitchen to the Checkpoint – Jessiah’s Journey!

Jessiah Lawton began his Job Corps adventure at the Hubert H. Humphrey Center in September 2021, starting in Culinary Arts. But Jessiah wasn’t one to settle—he wanted more. Known for his positive attitude and strong work ethic, he built a solid reputation on campus and soon found his way into the TCU program.

There, Jessiah truly shined—completing training in Mass Transit, Amtrak, Freight, and Airline Service, and even earning his driver’s license. With his sights set on public service, he set his goal to become a Transportation Security Officer (TSO) with the TSA.

Through dedication and persistence, Jessiah passed all required assessments and officially began his new career on May 6, 2024. Thanks to his careful savings from LTE jobs, support from the TCU WEP program, and Job Corps transition funds, Jessiah moved into his own apartment and is now living and working independently—and thriving.

We’re proud of Jessiah’s journey and would be lucky to have more students like him!
