Eugene Martinez: Putting in the Miles to Make It Happen
Eugene Martinez, a determined student from Corcoran, California, is proving that hard work and grit can lead to real success. After completing his basic trade in Facilities Maintenance at the San Jose Job Corps Center, Eugene continued his journey through Advanced Training with the TCU/IAM Advanced Transportation Program—and he hasn’t looked back.
Today, Eugene works as a Coach Cleaner with TASI in San Francisco, earning an impressive $36.46 per hour. His work ethic is unmatched—he commutes over 200 miles daily from Salinas to San Francisco, often working night shifts. When his shifts are close together, Eugene shows how dedicated he is by sleeping in his car to ensure he’s always on time and ready to work.
Eugene’s story also highlights the strength and value of being a TCU/IAM Union Member. The union has given him not just a job, but a stable, well-paying career path with opportunities for long-term growth.
“With dedication and union support,” Eugene shows, “success is achievable—even when the road is long.”
